Legal Research is the process of identifying and retrieving information necessary to support legal decision-making. It includes comprehensive synthesis and analysis of legal precedents, statutes, regulations, and case laws to provide relevant, accurate, and current information to facilitate legal proceedings and strategy development.

Level 1: Emerging

At an emerging level, you are beginning to develop skills in legal research. You are able to identify relevant legal resources, interpret legislation and extract key legal points from documents.

Level 2: Proficient

At a proficient level, you are able to conduct thorough legal research, utilizing advanced methodologies and resources to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound recommendations and solutions within the legal realm.

Level 3: Advanced

At an advanced level you are able to conduct complex legal research independently, utilizing various sources and databases to analyze and interpret legal issues effectively and efficiently within the organization.
